I was sitting in the cinema about to watch Sweeney Todd, and, as usual film trailers came on screen, Juno was one of the films being advertised, my first impression was ‘chick flick’ and my boyfriend causally whispered “not watching that”.
a couple of weeks went by and still had no-one to watch it with. By now i was keen to see it following the reviews from film critics and from the guys here at B&G.
So, i went on my own, which was really strange (oh and it was orange wednesday! which means i had to queue for a ticket for half an hour)
It had to be the smallest cinema i have ever been in, and as the opening credits were about to open on a group of about seven people came in, so i got shoved to the isle seat, and typically the guy sitting next to me was a bit strange, at first i thought he was uncomfortable in his chair but noticed he was really getting into the film, leaning forward and saying things out-loud such as “ahh i cant watch” when she was about to tell her parents the news. Oh and at the end he even applauded and stood up saying how fantastic it was, strange, but to be honest i felt like applauding myself it was that good.
Juno is one of the wittiest films i have seen for a long time, the story line was simple yet engaging, the acing by Ellen Page (well all of the cast) was outstanding. This film is anything but a chick flick. Go and see! - Hollie - on placement at B&G
